Darcy Daisy is
upset and confused after hearing rumors about Ms. Zinnia, a community
member who has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder. She shares her
concerns with her mother, who helps Darcy get answers to her questions
about the illness.This book is intended to help children understand
what bipolar disorder is, the importance of community acceptance, the
need to alleviate fear by collecting good information and the harm that
can result from rumors and gossip.

Lewandowski, Ph.D., and Shannon M. B. Trost, B.S., with whimsical illustrations
by Kimberly Shaw-Peterson.

Dr.
Lisa Lewandowski
earned her M.S. and Ph.D. in clinical psychology. She provides outpatient
treatment to adults and works as a research associate for the University
of Michigan. Her most rewarding job is parenting her daughter.
Shannon Trost earned her B.S. in psychology,
concentrating in behavioral psychology. She works as a free-lance editor,
is active in her daughters' schools and uses her psychology background
to help in the everyday challenges of parenting.
Kimberly Shaw-Peterson
is a self-taught artist and illustrator. Along with illustrating and
being a mom, Kim also paints and exhibits her work locally. Darcy
Daisy and the Firefly Festival is Kim's first book; she is also
the illustrator Double the Love and A Baby Brother, Oh No! Kim resides with her family in Plymouth, Michigan.
